Edinburgh artist designs stamp to mark Royal Academy of Arts landmark

An Edinburgh artist's design is among a set of a stamps created to mark an institution's landmark year.

The Royal Academy of Arts is celebrating 250 years since its foundation.

Six postage stamps have been created to mark the occasion, with one designed by Edinburgh-based Barbara Rae.

Royal Mail spokesman Philip Parker said: “We are delighted with the range and creativity of these wonderful miniature works of art.”

Ms Rae is a Scottish painter who has received numerous awards for her work.

Her design is featured alongside others created by Norman Ackroyd, Tracey Emin, Grayson Perry, Fiona Rae and Yinka Shonibare.
