AN investigation is under way into claims a city council bin lorry driver scraped a woman's car and destroyed another's fence within the space of 25 minutes.

Colleagues of the driver were left trying to reassemble the fence after the two incidents, which occurred on the same street on Monday.

The first incident took place at around 4.30pm on Walter Scott Avenue, when the bin lorry driver allegedly scraped a woman’s Vauxhall Corsa, knocking the fuel cap cover clean off.

Then, less than half an hour later, he is said to have then reversed into a garden fence, completely demolishing it.

The city council said the driver reported the incidents to his supervisor immediately.

A spokesman for Scotland’s Worst Drivers said the claims “beggared belief”.

He added: “Although property was damaged I’m thankful no-one was injured,.”

A spokeswoman for the city council said: “The council were made aware of the incident by the driver. It will be investigated in line with council policy.”
