Staff from Lothian and Jenners boarded buses all over the city to dish out the gifts, all with a little help from the famous department store’s very own Santa.

The festive outing marks the first of three such occasions and will be followed by two further giveaways next week on Monday and Tuesday.

Jenners store manager Alan Thomlinson said: “We are delighted to be working alongside Lothian to create a memorable Christmas experience for both local and visiting customers.

“Through the surprise giveaways and the social media competition, we will no doubt ignite that Christmas spirit within the Edinburgh communities.”

As well as the surprise giveaways, Lothian will also be giving one lucky fan a chance to win £300 worth of Jenners vouchers, a personal shopping experience and a prosecco afternoon tea.

The prizes can be won in an online competition which runs until December 19 and is featured on the bus company’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
