HOTELS have reported a dip in takings per room, with the average room dropping five per cent on last year.

Revenue per available room decreased from £100.55 in August – at the height of the Festival – to £73.05 in September. This was a fall of 4.9 per cent, from September 2011.

Meanwhile, passengers dropped at Edinburgh Airport by 2.2 per cent in September compared to the previous year, but the transport hub fared well against other ­cities.
