Cakes and Shakes in Musselburgh will create a milkshake based on your favourite chocolate bar or if you prefer something fruitier, they will pop in Skittles or Millions for an extra buzz. All cheesecakes are homemade and the ingredients are locally sourced. Jaki Love has said on Facebook that the cafe is “amazing!”.

One spot that has proved popular with many Evening News readers is Prestonpans cafe, All Mixed Up, which prides itself on having everything made in small batches by hand. Gemma Johnstone, who put forward the cafe on Facebook, said: “All Mixed Up have the most amazing sticky 
toffee and lemon drizzle.”

If you’re looking for some tasty gluten-free treats then Sugar Daddy’s Bakery in Canonmills is the place to go, according to Pippa Garner on Facebook. They can also customise their wide range of brownies, blondies and cakes to suit vegans and people looking for dairy, nut or soy free options.

Nestled at the Shore in Leith, Mimi’s Bakehouse is another popular dessert haven.

Customers can satisfy their sweet tooth with sticky toffee pecan or a variety of brownie flavours. Julie Barlow said on Facebook: “I had a chocolate and raspberry brownie and it was so good that I had a dream about it that night.”

As the Easter Bunny sits poised waiting to bring all sorts of chocolatey treats our way tomorrow, we asked Evening News readers where they go when they are hunting for a sweet fix throughout the year.

Fancy a song with your sweet? The Bluebird Cafe in Canonmills, might tickle your fancy.

Run by owner Kylie Macgregor, it regularly hosts live music acts.

Much of the menu is inspired by Kylie’s trip across the USA on a Harley Davidson when she visited iconic locations including Memphis, Nashville, Key West, Alabama, Atlanta and St Louis.

As well as cakes and desserts, the cafe serves homemade scones, soups, legendary pulled pork and Artisan Roast coffee, meaning that Kylie enjoys an excellent reputation across the Capital.

The cafe was opened in January 2014

Vicky More, who suggested this spot on Facebook, has offered glowing praise. She said: “The homemade brownies, cheesecakes and scones are amazing!”
