Edinburgh road closed due to crash near Fishmarket restaurant at seafront in Newhaven

A road by Edinburgh’s seafront has been closed this afternoon following a road crash.

The collision happened in Newhaven on Pier Place, between Craighall Road and Westmost Close, close to The Fishmarket restaurant.

One eye-witness reported seeing someone lying on the road who appeared to be receiving treatment.

A Twitter post by Edinburgh Travel news, run by members of Edinburgh City Council's roads team, said traffic queues were building up on Starbank Road, Craighall Road, Lindsay Road and Newhaven Road as a result.

Their latest post said: "Pier Place now CLOSED in both directions between Craighall Road and Westmost Close due to an RTC."

A message on Lothian buses website said the number 16 and 200 routes have been diverted due to the road closure and are instead going along North Junction Street, Ferry Road, Craighall Road until further notice. Buses are also subject to delays.

Police and the Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for more details.
