SCOTLAND’S Justice Minister has met pupils and parents at a city primary after they took part in a pioneering scheme designed to strengthen bonds between schools and families.
Kenny MacAskill MSP visited Castleview Primary School as 12 families graduated from the eight-week Families and School Together (FAST) programme.
The initiative, backed by Save the Children, supports families by working with parents and children in schools and has been endorsed by the United Nations.
Typical activities include singing, games such as emotional charades and special play, sitting down together to eat a family meal and supporting parents in setting boundaries. Mr MacAskill said: “Over the years I’ve made many a visit to Castleview Primary, which is an excellent school with a true sense of community spirit.
“Whenever I’ve met with the Castleview pupils they have been full of enthusiasm and no doubt they adopted the same approach to the FAST programme.”
