UNIVERSITY lecturers were staging a two-hour walk-out today after employers refused to improve a one per cent pay offer.
The University and College Union says the rise would leave staff with a real-terms 13 per cent pay cut since 2009.
UCU Scottish official Mary Senior said some universities were threatening to dock a full day’s pay from those taking part in the stoppage.
She accused management of acting “very belligerently”. The union has vowed to take legal action against any institution which docks a full day’s pay.
