Energy training centre given award boost

A RENEWABLE energy training centre at Telford College has been shortlisted for one of the sector’s major awards.

The college made a joint submission to this year’s InstallerLive Awards with its partner PPL Training Ltd – one the UK’s biggest energy providers – and was shortlisted in the Training Initiative of the Year category.

Telford provides a series of training courses which combine traditional construction heritage skills, such as roofing, with micro-generation skills, such as photovoltaic and thermal solar installation. The centre also offers courses in underground and air heat source pumps, plumbing and electrical installation systems.

College principal Miles Dibsdall said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted.”
