THE inaugural Edinburgh Cocktail Weekend, which runs from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 October, will give cocktail lovers in the city the chance to choose from 50 signature creations at what is set to be Scotland’s biggest ever cocktail event.
With 50 of the Capital’s top cocktail bars taking part, including Malmaison, Dine, Copper Blossom, Le Monde, The Printing Press and Nightcap, enthusiasts can look forward to a weekend of sipping and socialising their way around the city.
The cocktail line-up will feature everything from a Willy Wonka inspired Violet Beauregarde cocktail at The Refinery, and a tipsy ice cream milkshake at The Boozy Cow, to an iced coffee cocktail at Eden Locke, created by the recently crowned World’s Best Barista, as well as a Jammie Dodger flavoured Martini at Element.
Organiser Gary Anderson says, “After months of secretly collaborating with bars and brands to develop 50 new cocktail recipes, we are delighted to finally reveal them. “We are thrilled with the spectrum of flavours that will be available.
“We can’t wait to see everyone enjoying them and celebrating the awesome cocktail scene we have here in Edinburgh. It really is a Cocktail Capital.”
To take part in the festival, cocktail lovers must purchase a wristband, £6 for one or two for £11, from www.edinburghcocktailweekend.com
Wristbands can then be collected from the Edinburgh Cocktail Weekend Hub at ANTA on George Street along with a guide to the festival and its venues.
Wearing a wristband entitles festival goers to enjoy £4 cocktails and attend free masterclasses and tastings at the likes of Bar Soba, The Scottish Malt Whisky Society and Rabble.
Wristband-holders can also enjoy free entry to Edinburgh’s top late night venues plus exclusive access to the Boudoir and Bothy at Brewhemia, and the rooftop SKYbar on the top floor of DoubleTree by Hilton, where they can sip on cocktails and take in stunning views of Edinburgh Castle and the city’s skyline - the perfect selfie opportunity.
