Buck the trend with a cocktail at Scotland's most stylish bar

SCOTLAND'S newly crowned Most Stylish Bar, The Voyage of Buck, celebrates its win and this weekend's Tales On Tour cocktail festival with a whole host of special events over the next few days.

The fun starts on Sunday 8 April with The Voyage of Buck presents Edinburgh Gin (£30)

Presented and hosted by Mike McGinty and drinks expert Jamie Faulds, the evening will include a gin and tonic on arrival followed by a special three course menu featuring ingredients foraged from around the city, paired with three bespoke Edinburgh Gin cocktails. On Monday 9 April (8pm-11pm). Homegrown with Porter’s Gin showcases Scotland’s influence on global bar culture.

Once again, award-winning bartender Mike McGinty will host a number of (now global) Scottish stars of the bar. Mixing and shaking up gin cocktails all evening will be Alex Lawrence of Dandelyan, London, Danil Nevsky from Cocktails For You, Aiden Bowie of New York’s The Aviary, Ryan Snedden of PS40, Sydney, and finally Rory Shepherd of Little Red Door in Paris.

Tuesday 10 April (7pm-midnight) Jack Daniels x The 100 Scots sees four of Scotland’s top bar teams from Draffens, 99, Kelvingrove Café and Scotch and Rye descend on The Voyage of Buck from 8pm, each hosting a 40 minute bar takeover where they will showcase Jack Daniels with a unique Scottish twist.

The cocktail menu for the night includes Colonial Buck (Delhi), Lost In Translation (Kyoto), La Nouvelle Eve (Paris) and Smoked Pepper Daisy (Havana).

Tales of the Cocktail on Tour (7-10 April) is an annual celebration of the techniques, history and business of making drinks.

It covers a variety of issues from the rising popularity of low-proof cocktails to an inside look at what goes on behind the scenes of the most innovative beverage programs in the world. Participants are immersed in interactive, educational seminars.
