Drumbrae Gala Day gets cash boost from Spice Lounge
An award-winning restaurant and bar is playing its part in the community by supporting the local gala day.
Spice Lounge Kitchen in Corstorphine has given a generous donation of £500 to Clermiston and Drumbrae Gala Day.
People attending the popular children’s event – which is to be held this year on May 26 and 27 – will get the chance to sample some of the restaurant’s delicious luxurious Indian fare, as Spice Lounge Kitchen will have its mobile kitchen there on the day, selling a selection of wraps as well as authentic Indian curries, rice and naans.
“It’s always a great day,” said Jasvir Singh. “We’d encourage everyone in the community to support it.”
Staff from Spice Lounge Kitchen, which won the Evening News best curry house in 2016 and 2017, are becoming familiar to the local community, thanks in part to a partnership with Tesco.
Jasvir said: “We enjoy going in to do a stall in the local Tesco as we are very much part of the community.”
The team takes pride in creating special menus for events such as Burns Night, hosting a ceilidh complete with bagpipes to celebrate the Scottish bard’s annual feast.
Said Jasvir: “We had haggis pakora, haggis curry and even haggis naan – and on Valentine’s Day we had special heart-shaped pakora.”
But while it is at the heart of the community, Spice Lounge Kitchen also attracts visitors from across the globe, with many regulars being pilots and cabin crew from America and plenty of tourists, drawn by many five-star reviews.
The contemporary, stylish restaurant also has a bar with a tapas menu available with a wide selection of enticing dishes, from favourites such as vegetable pakora to the delightfully sweet Chooza Mangonise – chicken pieces cooked with mango, onion seeds and honey.
The wine list has been carefully selected to complement the food on offer and the staff are happy to advise. There is also a great selection of beers and spirits.
