NEWSNIGHT anchor Jeremy Paxman is to make his Fringe debut this August at The Pleasance Theatre.

In a one hour show, the broadcaster, author and ‘Spitting Image’ puppet waxes lyrical on pogonophobia, underpants and the human condition.

The broadcaster, who was ranked by GQ magazine as Britain’s 26th rudest person, will appear in a week long run of an as yet to be named show, promising surprises galore and an opportunity for audience members to quiz the interviewer.

Jeremy Paxman said: “I have no idea why I’m doing this. Some fool said you only regret the things in life that you don’t do. But I’m regretting this already.”

That ‘fool’ was his director, Sarah Esdaile who added, “I am looking forward very much to harnessing Jeremy’s positive mental attitude and giving our audiences in Edinburgh a little insight into the enigmatic Mr Paxman and what makes him tick....”

Jeremy Paxman will appear at the Pleasance Cabaret Bar from 18-25 Aug at 5.20pm daily. Tickets £15
