I’M back from Norway and straight back to business with a bang. The office is buzzing with our small team growing to almost 15 already. It’s full action stations and great to see.
This year we are launching Class Clowns, it will be an extension to our flagship comedy competition So You Think You’re Funny? but for under 18s.
This is something we are doing in partnership with our close friends at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Class Clowns has been running for about six years out there and they are starting to see the fruits of this wonderful competition.
Australian acts such as Tom Ballard and Joel Creasey (Creasey, pictured, is well known for being on the Australian version of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here) won the competition and now have fully fledged comedy careers.
This is what we’d like to do here in Scotland.
We have trialled Class Clowns in Inverness over the past couple of years and found some truly talented youngsters, but we’re keen to find more.
By taking part in this year’s Class Clowns, young comedians will get the opportunity to take part in a series of workshops with established comedians throughout the festival, giving them a chance to learn the tricks of the trade and get some advice on their own material.
It’s a fabulous opportunity for young people to learn new skills and gain confidence outside of school.
We’re currently in the process of recruiting contestants, so if you know Mr or Ms Funny, then make sure you get them to apply through our website or give us a call.
We’ve got our fingers and toes crossed that we find the next big thing in Scottish comedy.
