THE Champions of Magic tour is heading to the Capital next week, just like that!
Checking in to the Assembly Rooms from Wednesday 11 to Saturday 14 April, five world-class illusionists will present the mind-bending theatrical production that received rave reviews and a run in London’s West End.
With more than 30 million online views between them, the cast of top magicians includes international award-winners presenting mind reading, close-up magic and large-scale illusions.
Their skills have been seen around the world on TV with appearances on ITV’s Penn & Teller: Fool Us and The Next Great Magician.
Appearing at the Assembly Rooms will be grand illusionists Young & Strange, mind reader Alex McAleer, queen of close up Kayla Drescher and Edward Hilsum, the International Stage Magician Of The Year.
Young & Strange say, “It genuinely is a great fun show to be a part of. The relationship off stage with all the acts is terrific and constant ‘ribbing’ of each other’s performances is part and parcel of a standard day in Champions of Magic.”
Recalling their first ever magic trick, they continue, “The very first trick we learnt together as an act is an illusion that is still in the show today. It uses a cardboard box, in which one of us sits, and 23 wooden stakes which are rammed into the box at speed.
“We still make changes to the illusion 10 years on, so it’s unlikely we will ever consider the trick to be ‘mastered’. “
So get ready to witness the impossible, including disappearances, levitation, teleportation and a heart stopping finale, all presented with lighting and special effects to rival the biggest theatrical spectacles... and prepare for the unexpected.
With tongues firmly in cheeks, Young & Strange reveal, “Our role within the show is to provide the spectacle and bombastic finish. We always say what we lack in talent is masked by production.
“That production includes the use of Pyrotechnics and we have had a couple of near misses through our own stupidity.
“We have had two incidences where the theatre has been evacuated during the performance due to the pyrotechnics.”
Don’t miss your chance to catch some of the greatest magicians on the planet in a show that may well have you out of your seat.
