Compakt presents Jakn & Soc DJS

THIS forward-thinking techno night, which specialises in underground electronica, has become a mainstay on Cabaret Voltaire’s club night roster and has gained a deserved reputation for booking inspirational DJs.

Consequently, residents Bruno FK and DD have been DJing alongside legends such as Len Faki, Perc and the great Joey Beltram.

Tomorrow night sees local techno boys F-N and S3konz headline.

Best known for running their own night, Jakn, Bruno FK says, “These guys play techno in all its forms - so expect them to play deep techno to peak-time material. Personal favourites of ours, we are really looking forward to hearing them.”

Bruno and DD warm up the main room while the second room is fronted by the Edinburgh Dance Music Society, featuring DJs Scavenger, Reverse Engineer, Tami Sounds and Phrase.

Basic Space presents. Bwani Junction & Friends - Malawi Appeal

BASIC Space is a new club night drummed up by a group of clued-up Edinburgh teenagers armed with a positive attitude and a love of all things electronic.

Dylan Smith, Paddy Do Rego and Greig Thomson aka Future Funk chose to organise this Malawi fundraiser after seeing and reading coverage in the news and on TV.

Smith says, “Our school has made us aware of the struggle in Malawi. We had to do something about it. We listen to music and party, but there’s kids there who don’t even get an education, let alone the things we take for granted. We thought we should throw a party. It’s just another weekend for us but a future for someone else”.

Basic Space Malawi Fundraiser, Cabaret Voltaire, Blair Street, Saturday, 11am, £5, 0131-247 4704

Big n Bashy & Electrikal present Panda Party (Fancy dress)

CLUBLAND gets in on the act and joins thousands of Edinburghers welcoming the new arrivals in panda fashion. A strictly black and white theme will be enforced, with those pushing the boat out a little further by donning panda masks or outfits getting in for free.

This is one jungle night where it will definitely be a case of paws in the air. Of course, the other option is that you just head along for a good laugh at a room full of panda-people going mental. Featuring DJs Era, Deburgh, Whit3Noi5e playing out reggae, dub step, D ‘n’ B and electro.
