A WEST Lothian junior football club are facing a surge in interest for their away kit thanks to a big-hitting new sponsor.
Glasgow pop group Chvrches have signed up as the jersey sponsor of Whitburn Juniors, who are based out of Bathgate.
The East Superleague team have had enquiries about their kit from as far afield as South America.
The unexpected interest came after the fan club of Chvrches singer Lauren Mayberry tweeted about the band’s link to the small Scottish club.
Whitburn secretary Ann Haddow told the Daily Record: “One of our supporters, Robert Cook, does an awful lot for the club. His son Iain is in the band and he had asked him if they were interested in sponsoring us.
“Lauren’s fan club have tweeted about it, so it has escalated. I’ve even had word from somebody in Argentina through the club website to find out how much it would cost to post it to him.”
Chvrches were formed in September 2011 and have enjoyed global success with the release of three albums, including this year’s Love is Dead.
