2010 Evening News Drama Awards winners Saughtonhall Drama Group present the comedy Beyond A Joke, at Saughtonhall Church, a venue they have declared ‘green’ for this year’s Fringe.

“As part of our aim to improve our environmental footprint we are encouraging audience members coming to Venue 273 to travel by tram. We are only about 300m from Balgreen tram stop, making travel from the city centre very easy,” explains venue manager Edith Allen.

“I am delighted we are able to take part in this exciting new initiative for arts venues. We already have solar panels on the roof of the church and have recently upgraded our stage lighting which reduces electricity consumption by 40 per cent.”

Director Morag Simpson says, “The only transport that features on stage in this play is a wheelbarrow, which is pretty eco friendly as it uses no carbon fuel. However a wheelbarrow is probably not the best way to get out from the centre of city to come and enjoy this really amusing comedy, so I would recommend those coming use the tram.”

Beyond A Joke, Saughtonhall Church, Saughtonhall Drive, until Saturday, 7.30pm, £7, 0131-539 0491
