Dress for the Moonwalk usually features a lot of pink clothing, with a trademark bra worn over clothes, which in itself presents a few challenges for the group’s +1, a last minute substitute who would not normally wear a bra or anything in pink for that matter.
And the rest of the group’s reaction to their new +1 is not welcoming either. To help keep the party on track the group is doggedly marshalled by a well-meaning but over organising leader. Unfortunately she also suffers from an over-competitive edge.
Added to this rich mix are some fun characters encountered on the walk, including a highly enthusiastic pre-walk warm-up instructor.
Director of the play, John Webster, took part in the Moonwalk this year and recalls, “It was an amazing experience taking part in the walk and I gained a great insight into the enthusiasm and dedication of Moonwalkers.
“I take my hat off to them and I hope that our production brings back some happy memories.
“While warming up for the walk in the big tent, I realised that it presented an ideal opportunity for our audience to participate in the story.”
