MUSSELBURGH Amateur Musical Association set sail on board the SS American at the Brunton theatre next week.
The troupe’s annual production find them embarking on the musical voyage that is Cole Porter’s Anything Goes.
When the SS American heads out to sea, etiquette and convention get tossed out of the portholes as two unlikely couples set off on a course to true love... proving that destiny needs a little help from a crew of singing sailors, an exotic disguise and some good old-fashioned blackmail.
Regarded by many as one of the greatest musicals in theatre history, Cole Porter’s comedy boasts such timeless classics as I Get A Kick Out Of You, You’re The Top, and, of course, the title number Anything Goes.
President of MAMA, Mark Becher says, “The Company have been hard at work throughout the winter to bring this classic musical to the stage.
“Rehearsals have been great fun as we have tap-danced and sung our way through Cole Porter’s memorable score.
“We cannot wait now for opening night and to present this to our audiences, who I am sure will enjoy a very entertaining performance.”
Anything Goes, Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh, 13-16 April, 7.30pm (matinee 2pm), £11-£13, 0131-441 4554
