YOU take the High Road... When you hear the lyrics of Loch Lomond echoing around the Castle, it can mean just one thing.

Yes, on Saturday, it’s the turn of Runrig to rock the ramparts once again as they celebrate their 40th anniversary.

Promoter Barry Wright of Regular Music, producers of the Castle Concerts, says, “Runrig are a Scottish legend.

“Over the years we have taken then from Stirling Castle to the banks of Loch Lomond, from Orkney to Hawick, from Benbecula to Dumfries – there is no part of Scotland that Runrig don’t reach.

“And, now, as they are celebrating their 40th anniversary with a series of special concerts, where else could they play other than the world renowned Edinburgh Castle.”

Formed in Skye in 1973 by brothers Calum and Rory MacDonald, Runrig are looking forward to their celebration in the city, five years after they last headlined a Castle Concert.

A spokesman for Runrig says, “This is an amazing anniversary to have reached. It’s such a significant milestone and little did we think as young lads back in 1973 that we would still be performing our music into the new millennium and beyond.

“We want to thank the loyal fans who have been with us from the very beginning and those who come on board at various parts of the journey. This is going to be a very special night at Edinburgh Castle for us all.”
