ERC riders of the season

Edinburgh Road Club cyclists Claire Martin and Graeme Scott have won the club’s
Riders of the season awards sponsored by Field & Lawn and the Tri Centre.

Squad members voted for the riders they believed had shown the greatest improvement over the season. Martin earned her prize for a series of strong performances that moved her up through the rankings from fourth category to second. Scott won the ballot in the male category after achieving his third category licence.

Meanwhile, another Capital rider to receive an award was Callum Skinner, who was named top performer of the year by the charity, Braveheart Cycling Fund, which provides financial backing for talented young Scots. Skinner had an operation yesterday on the collarbone he broke in a spectacular crash during the exhibition Thunder Drome event at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow on Saturday. Ironically, the competition in which he came to grief was organised by the Braveheart charity.
