Eviction underway at Indy camp

Independence campers are being evicted from outside of the Scottish Parliament following a Scottish court ruling last month.

The eviction of Indy campers began this morning with caravans being removed and fences being put up around the site.

The camp, which was set up in November 2015 aimed to stay in Holyrood Park until Scotland became an independence nation, however, following a court battle with Scottish Parliament officals, the group were ordered to leave.

Indy campers lose appeal over Holyrood eviction

It had been argued by the campaigners that eviction would infringe their rights to freedom of expression with the group puttingt forward several arguments against eviction – including claims that Jesus Christ had given permission for the camp, and that they had not been given a fair hearing.

The site is currently in the process of being cleared.
