Expert joins green group

AN Edinburgh Napier energy expert has been appointed to the group charged with ensuring Scotland meets its climate change targets.

John Currie, head of the Scottish Energy Centre at the university’s Institute for Sustainable Construction, has been chosen to co-chair the “built environment division” of Scotland’s 2020 Climate Group. The 2020 group of experts was set up to ensure that Scotland meets its 42 per cent carbon emissions reduction target by bringing together the country’s business, voluntary and public sectors.

The largest of its subgroups is the built environment, which accounts for 50 per cent of all greenhouse gas emissions in Scotland.
