Families can gobble up health tips

A HEALTHY eating campaign to encourage better diets in families has now helped more than 50 children in the Capital.

The Get Going programme has targeted youngsters up to the age of 18 in a bid to reduce obesity levels.

Participants said they had learned how to prepare more nutritious meals, find ways to stay fit and been educated about what not to eat.

NHS Lothian’s public health consultant, Graham Mackenzie, said: “Some families who have already taken part have gone on to make major changes to their lifestyle and behaviour and have had huge benefits, too.”

The project consists of eight weekly sessions taking place in leisure centres across the city.
