Families still

MANY families are still struggling to make ends meet despite debt levels falling among Capital residents, a charity said.

New figures show that the average level of unsecured debt facing those calling StepChange Debt’s helpline had fallen by nearly £400 in 2012, from £14,909 to £14,566 over 12 months.

But Delroy Corinaldi, external affairs director of the charity, said: “While the fall in average debt levels is welcome, many families are still struggling
financially under the burden of low wage growth and rising
living costs.”
