Famous faces are regular feature on city's streets

As a major European capital city, celebrity visits aren't exactly rare, as our pictures show.

Italian actress Sophia Loren was enjoying some attention from little Barry McGowan in 1979 as he planted a kiss as she arrived on Princes Street to promote her autobiography.

They don’t come more famous than The Beatles, and Paul McCartney turned heads on North Bridge when he arrived with wife Linda and daughter Stella in May 1973.

Hollywood legend Bette Davis was making herself comfortable – with her trademark cigarette in hand – when she visited Edinburgh in October 1975.
