Few cheers for £4 beers

THE price of a pint of Tennent’s Lager will soon be more than £4 in the Capital, it has been warned.

Pubs across Edinburgh are concerned that a change in the way the popular drink is bought will increase the cost of a barrel by 40 per cent.

Research has indicated that will mean the average cost of a pint of Tennent’s will be £4.02.

Despite the rise, that is still cheaper than it would be in both Glasgow and Aberdeen.

Punch Taverns, which owns 5000 pubs in the UK, has written to its licensees warning them of the “significant” rise.
