Fewer off sick at city council

STaff at the city council have managed to reduce the number of sick days they take.

Figures in a new report show the average number of sick days lost by non-teaching staff in 2010/11 reduced by over nine per cent compared to the previous year, from 12 days to 10.9.

The average teacher took 6.3 sick days in 2010/11, which was also a significant reduction on 7.4 days a year earlier.

Earlier this year, the council announced a new drive aiming to slash sick days.
