The staff nurse, 33, was killed by a car on May 12, 2016 on Old Dalkeith Road after walking home from a shift at the hospital.

Colleagues dedicated International Nurses Day on Friday to her memory and set up a book of condolence in the site’s main hall.

Tracy Anne Miller, from Unison, said: “We would like all staff who work at the RIE to take five minutes to put their name in this book, whether they knew Jill personally or not.

“We intend presenting the book of condolence to Jill’s parents so it would be fantastic if we were able to give them a full book with names of people who took five minutes out of their working day to think about Jill and her family at what will be a very sad time.”

Joyrider Dylan Jenkin, 18, was sentenced for six years the death of mum-of-one Jill, having bought a car from Gumtree for £40.
