Fish left floundering as insurance rejected over celebrity friends fear

ROCK star Fish has hit out after being refused car insurance – because of fears he would be driving party-loving celebrities around.

The Marillion frontman, who has had a clean licence since 1976, was recently told his current policy would not be renewed due to two other musicians being included as named drivers.

Fish – real name Derek Dick – was then given a quote for solo cover, only to be told it was £150 more expensive than his previous joint policy.

Insurer AA, which claimed the price hike was because Fish “could be driving celebrities around”, has now apologised for the refusal claiming it was due to a “processing error”.

Fish, from Haddington, East Lothian, said: “It’s always been difficult to get insurance, ever since I could afford a car.

“They just anticipate that every musician is driving about off their heads or drunk, which isn’t the case.”

An AA spokesman said: “AA Insurance has offered its apologies to Fish for a processing error which led to his car insurance renewal incorrectly being refused.”
