Five charged over break-ins

FIVE men have been charged in connection with high-value thefts during several housebreaking incidents after £32,000 of stolen goods was recovered by police.

Officers carried out a search of a property in Ferry Road on Tuesday when stolen goods, including alcohol, paintings and jewellery, was seized after inquiries revealed the items were set to be sold to online and high street pawnbrokers.

The men aged 22, 24, 25, 28 and 51 were set to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday.

Police have been carrying out a crackdown on the sale of stolen goods via online pawnbroker sites.
