Flats plan for iconic hotel

PROPOSALS to convert one of Dalkeith’s most iconic buildings into homes have been approved.

The Cross Keys Hotel on the town’s High Street, which has lain empty for two years, has fallen into disrepair, and suffers considerably from dry rot.

Midlothian Council has now approved plans from Mark Hendrie which will see the B-Listed hotel building retained and converted, with a commercial unit on the ground floor and six single-bedroom flats on the upper floors.
