Former MP urges rejection of lone police force

A FORMER city MP who took part in consultations over a single Scottish police force has urged MSPs to reject the idea.

In a letter to the Evening News, ex-Edinburgh East Labour MP Gavin Strang said the result of the consultation was an “overwhelming” rejection of a single national police force. He said such a structure could threaten civil liberties, adding that, with a few exceptions, police officers were against the plan.
