Former squaddies to march to charity’s aid

A TEAM of ex-army pals are preparing to walk 96 miles for the Help for Heroes charity.

The men served in Edinburgh in the 104 Field Squadron, which disbanded in 1999.

Now eight of them are reuniting for the West Highland Way walk.

They will meet at Dreghorn Barracks before setting off on the walk on May 27.

Douglas Gillan said: “We were all pals who served in Edinburgh, but we haven’t seen each other for 12 years.”

The team has already raised £1200, with Dunbar Sea Cadets making a significant contribution. A minibus has been provided by the Army Welfare Trust.
