Free festival will mark 40 years of Gorgie City Farm

Gorgie City Farm will hold a free festival to mark its 40th anniversary,

On 2 September 2017, the farm will hold “Farm Fest 2017; Big 40th Birthday Celebration”.

This free to enter event marks the anniversary of the first meeting of local residents on site, kick-starting the city farm.

Held throughout the three acre site and the event will provide visitors with a fun filled day for the family with live music, carnival games, face painting, raffles, craft stalls, local organisations, a bar, and much more, showcasing its very own produce cooked on an open flame.

“Farm Fest’s” aim is to bring the local and wider community together to host a fun filled day for all the family. This year’s event is set to be even bigger, corresponding with Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight than before with the festival now running from 10am-6pm.

Rounding out the weekend, the farm will be hosting a fundraising dinner in aid of its work supporting adults, children and young people with support needs.

This unique culinary experience will feature Chef Fred Berkmiller of Escargot Bleu/Blanc and Rosario Satore of Locanda de Gusti partnering with Pilot Brewery and Arbikie Estate, showcasing a 5-course menu, using the best Gorgie City Farm produce. The chefs and producers are donating their time and all proceeds will be ploughed back into the charity.

Chef Fred Berkmiller has been working with the farm for a number of years was awarded the coveted price of the Food Pioneer award in 2016.
