SIX top tourist attractions in the Lothians are opening their doors for free as part of Scotland’s Winter Festivals.

The event, which celebrates St Andrew’s Day, Hogmanay and Burns Night will see more than 40 of Scotland’s best-known tourist sites abandon their entrance fees on certain days.

Among the attractions offering free admission is Edinburgh Castle. Others include Blackness Castle near Linlithgow, Craigmillar Castle, Dirleton Castle in East Lothian, Linlithgow Palace, and Tantallon Castle in East Lothian.

The Visit for Free scheme gives free access for up to two adults and three children to all ticketed Historic Scotland properties on Saturday, November 26 and Sunday, November 27.

Edinburgh Castle will be free on November 30.
