Frogs spawn new zone

The tiny White’s Tree Frog is one of the curious creatures to go on show at Edinburgh Zoo’s new tropical forest zone, part of the Brilliant Birds exhibit.

The new area will also allow visitors to get a close-up look at the highly toxic phantasmal poison frogs, rare Polynesian tree snails, which are extinct in the wild, and vivid sun beetles from Africa.

And over the next few weeks the zoo will be introducing a colony of leafcutter ants to the jungle zone, giving visitors a chance to see them carrying leaves and food over a rope walkway.
