Fund boost for Leith project

AN INITIATIVE to steer young people in Leith away from a life of crime has been given a funding boost.

The Early Intervention Project, which has received a £6000 grant by the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland, involves local community mentors being matched with young people who are first time offenders or have been identified as being at risk of offending.

Referrals to the project come from the police or through the Edinburgh Youth Offending Service.
