Garden honours war dead

Veterans, military leaders and politicians have laid wreaths at the opening of a garden of remembrance.

A short service was held in Princes Street Gardens before Veterans Minister Keith Brown viewed thousands of crosses and poppies planted at the site, alongside Navy, Army and RAF commanders.

Created by Poppyscotland last year, the garden has space for 12,000 crosses and is set to raise around £250,000.

Poppyscotland chief executive Ian McGregor said: “We are delighted for the support of the public once again, which has enabled us to create the field of remembrance: a moving visual tribute.”
