A SPECIAL service is to be held today at George Watson’s College in honour of its sports director Iain Brown, who has died at the age of 55.

The former Scottish Rugby general committee member collapsed and passed away while attending a family event in London.

Shocked friends and colleagues have paid tribute to the “much-loved” PE teacher, who spent 33 years at Watson’s, one of the Capital’s top independent schools, and was well known for his work to promote rugby among pupils.

Jason White, the former Scotland captain, said: “Broon, as we knew him affectionately, was a massive influence on my rugby career at the beginning because he was in charge of the boarding house when I first came to George Watson’s.
