Girl ‘told boyfriend that rapist was in her flat’

A MAN has told of his horror when his girlfriend texted him saying: “Please help me, I have rapist in my flat”.

The 22-year-old Edinburgh graduate, who cannot be named, said he was consumed with guilt because he had refused to let her spend the night with him since he had to get up early the following day.

As soon as he got the desperate message he replied saying: “Call the police!!!!!!” and called a taxi to get from Slateford to her flat near London Road.

Kieran Craig, 19, of Milton Bridge, Penicuik, denies assaulting and raping the woman on October 5 last year. He has lodged a special defence claiming he believed the 23-year-old female consented throughout.

The alleged victim said she allowed infantryman Craig to walk her home from a nightclub but he grabbed her by the throat, pulled her by the hair and raped her. The trial at the High Court in Livingston continues.
