TWO ten-year-olds have raised more than £2400 at a coffee morning in memory of teenage cancer victim Jak Trueman.
Ellie McLean and Holly Gilmour lost count of the cups of tea and coffee they served at the Institute Hall, Mid Calder, on Saturday, as queues snaked down the street. Their efforts will be matched by an unnamed firm bringing the total to £5,000.
The best friends thanked everyone who helped them, and added: “We were so tired afterwards but it was worth it to raise such a large amount of money for such a good cause.
“It showed how much of a community spirit there is in the village, and it was great to see.”
The funds will go to Jak’s Den charity, set up in memory of the 15-year-old who died from a rare form of blood cancer.
