Global links land girls’ school award

AN Edinburgh school has been given a top award in recognition of its extensive collaboration with schools overseas.

St George’s School for Girls has received the International School Award (ISA) from the British Council to reward its ongoing efforts to incorporate global links in the school’s curriculum.

The ISA is widely acknowledged as a badge of honour for schools that do outstanding work abroad, giving young people the opportunity to develop their cultural understanding and global awareness.

The school has a well- established exchange programme in a vast range of countries and cultures, from Chile and Tasmania to South Africa and Hong Kong.

Anna Tomlinson, deputy headteacher, said: “Developing international links and giving the girls the chance to learn from other cultures and communities across the globe is something we really value.

“Such opportunities encourage our students to look beyond their own experiences and develop greater responsibility.”
