Three teenagers were assaulted and robbed after they went to the aid of a male who they saw lying on the steps across from Fountain Park.

Police are now investigating the incident – which took place in the early hours of Saturday morning – after the attacker took exception to the victims’ help and chased them along Dundee Street and onto Henderson Terrace, before stopping them and demanding money.

All three complied and the attacker left heading along Dalry Road in the direction of Haymarket.

The suspect is described as white, around 20-25 years old, and approximately 6ft tall with a stocky build.

He has a half sleeve tattoo on his arm, very short blonde hair, a Scottish accent and had been wearing a tight black t-shirt, according to a description released by the police.

The incident took place between 3.50am and 4.10am.

Detective Constable Martin Smith of Police Scotland said: “The three teenagers had only tried to help this man who in turn assaulted and robbed them.

“The incident has left them all very shocked and we are keen to trace the suspect. I would ask anyone who was in the area to get in touch with police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
