Tributes have been paid to a 95-year-old Edinburgh great-grandmother who was killed in a car crash in the Borders last week.

Dorothea Logan was a passenger in an Audi A6 which was involved in a collision with a VW Polo on the A7, one mile north of Stow on Tuesday July 14.

Mrs Logan died at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary the following day, while the 67-year-old female driver of the VW lost her life at the scene of the accident.

In a family statement released this afternoon, Mrs Logan’s said: “Dot Logan enjoyed a long, happy and fulfilled life and the family would wish people to remember that, rather than the circumstances of her death. She was a much loved Mum, Gran and great-Gran. The family are deeply grateful to all the emergency services and to the professional and committed staff of the ERI for their outstanding care and compassion.”

Sergeant Brian Smith of the Road Policing Unit said: “Our sincere condolences go to both families and friends at this sad time. Enquiries into the full circumstances surrounding this collision are still ongoing, and anyone with information which can help with our enquiries is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
