The Edinburgh and Lothians Greenspace Trust (ELGT) has named Charlie Cumming as its new chief executive.

Mr Cumming will take over from Chris Lewis, who is retiring after 14 years as head of the charity.

Since joining ELGT in 2001 and becoming its projects manager in 2003, Mr Cumming has helped deliver more than £8 million worth of projects in and around Edinburgh, ranging from the transformation of Hailes Quarry Park to the creation of a new community garden and play park in Barony Street gardens. Carol Cawood, chairwoman of ELGT’s board of directors, said: “Charlie’s previous experience with ELGT makes him ideally placed to continue our work to improve and promote access to greenspaces across Edinburgh and the Lothians.”
