Guide aims to end prostate cancer myths

A GUIDE to prostate cancer for patients and their families has been launched by a city charity.

Prostate Scotland said the information pack would help raise awareness of the illness as well as abolish some myths.

Alan McNeill, consultant urological surgeon at Edinburgh’s Western General Hospital, said: “With prostate cancer being the most common cancer in men in Scotland and nearly one in two men over the age of 50 affected by benign prostatic hyperplasia there is a vital need to ensure that there is up-to-date and accessible information for men in Scotland.

“Our aim, through these booklets, has been to help answer the many questions that patients and their families often have, so that they are better informed when making treatment decisions.”
