A spokesman for Lothian and Borders police said: “A 40-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with an alleged breach of the peace following an incident within a department store in Edinburgh’s city centre.

“He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.”

A spokeswoman for Harvey Nichols said: “We can’t comment on any security breaches in store.”

The luxury department store first opened its Edinburgh store in 2002. It is the only one in Scotland.
