A CURE for diabetic seizures has moved a step closer after scientists from the Capital announced a breakthrough.

They said the research will benefit people who have type 1 diabetes and need islet cell transplants, which prevent seizures resulting from low blood sugar.

Lead clinician John Casey, of Edinburgh University, said: “There is a shortage of organ donors, which is not helped by the need for two pancreases to be donated to treat each patient.”
